GAPL

GAPL (Gas Assisted Plunger Lift) is there such a thing as over injection? More gas in means more gas out right?

If you’re familiar with GAPL, then you’re probably yelling at this post now. Yes it’s wrong! Injecting too much gas into a well is a huge problem! It over pressurizes the well in the sense that the reservoir can’t feed its produced gas to the surface. On the flip side, too little gas and you can’t lift the fluid necessary, leaving tons of money in the reservoir.

So how do you find the sweet spot? Knowing about where to start with the injection rate is big, experimenting with it is even bigger, and being able to adjust the gas injection anytime from anywhere is the biggest step. How do you control your injection rate? Manual chokes, chief chokes, Taylor chokes with Bettis valves - there are many options. Pairing the right device with the right software and the smartest programming is the key to optimizing Gas-Lift injection for the most efficient production. If you need help with this subject, whether it’s picking the right equipment or software, reviewing how your injection systems could be improved, or training your personnel on these systems, I have 15 years of hands-on experience and would be happy to visit with you more!
